I write music for picture. Twenty years of it, mostly advertising, increasingly film and television. I’m Head of Creative and Partner at Mosaic Music + Sound in Surry Hills. This page is the shorter answer to who I am.
About
My approach starts with emotion.
If I can land the right feeling with a single note, that’s the note I’ll write. I’m a student of harmony and what it does to us, how a chord can turn a scene, and from there it becomes a question of colour: which palette paints the emotional journey a piece of picture is asking for. That’s the craft I care about, and it’s the same whether I’ve got thirty seconds or forty minutes.
I started as a jazz guitarist and singer, playing trombone in orchestras and jazz ensembles, and I’ve had a long performance career alongside some of the finest players in Australia and the US. I studied jazz performance and composition at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and took a postgraduate degree at AFTRS. I’m a composer, a performer, a recording artist, and a producer, and the writing is better for all four.

Mix Visualiser
Drawings of a mix,
as I hear it.
When I listen to a mix I see it. Where every part sits, how it moves, what colour it feels like. So I started drawing them. Kick, snare, bass, the vocals stacked and panned out to the sides, mapped onto graph paper the way my ear places them.
Then a designer takes the sketch and renders it properly. Same map, turned into something you can hang on a wall. There’s a book in these one day. For now they go up on Instagram, one track at a time.
